 backpacking in my marketing work for a local mountain resort so I purchased the Vanguard VEO 2 on sale. This is the first winter season I’ve used it and it fits my needs fairly nicely. Lighter weight than my small, aluminum unit, just as strong and easily supports my D780 with a 70-200mm lens. I do hang my camera back pack underneath to stabilize the tripod. My only, minor thought is that it does take a little bit of time to rotate the friction locks on the tripod legs to extend/retract the VEO 2, making run & gun set up for action captures in the back country more burdensome than the flip latches more commonly seen on studio tripods. No big deal for landscape photography, but has been an issue a couple of times (plan ahead). Overall, a great replacement for a light weight,
